Capsular Contracture
Breast augmentation surgery is the process of enhancing the size of the breasts. To understand breast augmentation surgery one must also understand all that it encompasses and all potential risks and/or complications.
Breast augmentation surgery, as with all surgical procedures, is subject to the potential risks of anesthesia, bleeding, infection, and/or poor incision healing. Breast augmentation surgery may also result in changes in nipple and breast sensation and other related complications.
Breast augmentation surgery may not always produce long-lasting results and regular examinations and evaluations may be necessary. Complications following surgery may include leakage, rupture, wrinkling, and/or the possible development of capsular contracture.

Surgical Procedure
Capsular Contracture is an unpredictable condition that may occur when naturally forming scar tissue continues to increase in thickness. As thickness increases, it squeezes the breast causing tightness, firmness, and changes in breast appearance.
Capsular contracture may occur in one or both breasts and may vary in degree and severity. Discomfort and changes in breast appearance may require additional surgery. Some corrective surgical outcomes may include partial or complete removal of the capsular scar tissue.
Revision breast augmentation surgery may compromise the breast tissue and skin elasticity causing the need for additional support to maintain and improve the overall breast appearance.
