Mastopexy Augmentation

Mastopexy augmentation is a cosmetic surgery procedure that combines a breast lift with breast enlargement using implants. The goal of this surgery is to enhance both the position and size of the breasts. A breast lift with augmentation is appealing for patients who want more comprehensive improvement to their breast appearance with a single combined surgical procedure.

Many women find that breast lift augmentation surgery creates a pleasing overall shape and proportion, restoring the breasts to a more youthful position while enlarging total volume. Mastopexy augmentation is often considered by women who have lost a significant amount of weight, moms whose breast tissue has changed following childbirth and breastfeeding, and women with substantial breast asymmetry. However, only you and your physician can determine if mastopexy augmentation is right for you.

Mastopexy Augmentation using Strattice™ TM

Strattice™ Reconstructive Tissue Matrix (TM) is a tool that can assist in combined breast lift / augmentation surgeries. Pairing these procedures can make the surgery more challenging, and in both primary and revisionary surgeries, certain patient characteristics are particularly difficult to address. Patients with stretchy skin, recent massive weight loss or thin tissues may have insufficient tissue to reinforce the bottom part of the breasts.

Strattice™ TM is a tool surgeons can use when they need additional tissue for reinforcement to assist in achieving their aesthetic vision. Strattice™ TM comes in three Contour Shapes to accommodate a range of implant sizes for mastopexy augmentation cases.

Available Contour Shapes

During mastopexy augmentation surgery, the surgeon creates incisions using standard surgical techniques, sutures a portion of the selected Contour Shape size of Strattice™ TM to the chest wall and pectoralis major muscle, places the implant in the pocket created, and then finishes suturing the Strattice™ TM in position. Removal of excess tissue and lifting of the breast is performed after the Strattice™ TM and implant are in place.

The mastopexy augmentation technique generally described above is a suggested technique for using Strattice™ TM. Proper procedures and techniques are necessarily the responsibility of the medical professional. Each surgeon must evaluate the appropriateness of the techniques based on his or her own medical training and expertise.
